Looks Like We Know Why AT&T Blocked Google Voice From The App Store…

AT&T is rolling out a new service. A service that costs $10 extra per month. A service that is also offered by Google. So what’s the problem? Google offers this service to you, free of charge. It seems as though at&t is is beginning to offer voice mail transcriptions. When someone leaves you a voice mail, at&t will have the message transcribed and a text message will be sent to your phone so you can read the message. This is great if you’re in a noisy environment, a meeting, church, or anywhere else you can’t listen to your voice mail. The only thing is, Google Voice, and others like Rabbit Mobile already do this for you, for free.

So the real reason at&t had Apple reject the Google Voice application from the App Store was so they could continue their anti-competitive business practices. That sounds about right.
